What is in my water?

There are several ways you can find out what is in you water. A water analysis can be sent to a State approved laboratory. Call the state health department or call the EPA safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791)

You can test it yourself as well. Water analysis kits are available for purchase. They test for a variety of different contaminants.

My water has a color to it. How can I make it clean?

If you have a well or city water, and the water is rust colored, you most likely have iron problems. Installation of a water softener can help with these conditions.

Why does my water taste bad?

If you want to treat the drinking and cooking water at your sink, you have several good options. A reverse osmosis system would greatly improve the taste and the quality of your water. If the unpleasant taste is due to chlorine in the water, then a carbon filtration unit would be recommended.

What is a reverse osmosis system?

Reverse osmosis systems produce pure water by forcing untreated water, or tap water through a semi permeable membrane. This membrane only allows water molecules to pass through, directing it to the storage tank. Then, the impurities that are separated from the water molecules are dumped down the drain. The unit consists of both pre and post filters which help with additional contaminant removal.

How can bacteria be removed from water?

Microorganisms and other bacteria are removed from water through disinfection. This means that certain elements are added to kill the bacteria. Sometimes disinfection can be done with UV-light as well.
